Lake McDonald- largest lake in the Glacier national park. This is a Natural lake located in the flathead country, US state of Montana. This is the one of lake in Glacier national park , there are more than 700 Lake in Glacier national park.
This lake covered a surface area of 6,823 acres (27.6 square kilometres). Lake McDonald is approximately a length of 16 km and the width of 1.6 km and depth of 130 m. The water of this lake is absolutely clear.
Coloured Pebbles on western side of the lake is one of the beautiful features of this lake . Coloured rocks on shores and the clear water is adding a beautiful view sight for this lake . These coloured pebbles is available all around the Glacier national park. These rocks are dark brown, maroon, green and blue , these colours are determined by the presence of iron or mineral content on these rocks.Taking stones from this lake is strictly prohibited by law.
The drive via sun -road will gives you a beautiful sea-nary view experience . The red bus from the McDonald lake lodge get into the heart of the lake. This Lake is a trial place for hiking. Boating facilities also available on summer. Lodging and dining facilities are available on this Lake. McDonald Lake Lodge is the largest lodge on this Lake which is constructed in 1913-14.
