MANGROOVE FOREST (LAGOON) @ MUTHUPET

 



A Beautiful greenish mangrove forest on tail of river Cauvery..The River korayar and Pamaniyar on east and west joins and met sea which makes this LAGOON.

 This town named Muthupet .. History say once upon a time this town is rich in Pearl hunting so this town named Muthupet. Muthu means PEARLS 

     These mangrove forest are Life saving for peoples on Muthupet.. These mangrove roots slow down the Tsunami waves during 2004 which is one of the heart breaking disaster of TamilNadu

The 162 Meters of wooden pathway has built to enjoy eyesighting greenish mangroves by walk as land is marshy.

Motor boats are arranged for boating and you can spent more time on boating. . It is a wonderful sight for the tourists to see the wide expanse of backwater and the mangrove forests dotting over the entire area. Some Dots are arranged for camping 🏕.. But Camping at night is prohibited ..

         

      During November to January birds from Siberia, Russia, Iran, and Europe 

eighty species of migratory birds are visiting this beautiful Lagoon was estimated. Among them the notable species of birds are the heron, egret, flamingo, the painted stork, pelican, teal and tern. 


       These Bird are visiting to add additional beauty to this greenish beauty.
