SPECIALITY OF THIS TEMPLE

▶️The Temple Tower or Gopuram as it is locally called is 216 feet height.

▶️1.3 lakh tons of granite was used to construct This Temple but the surprising fact is…

There is neither a mountain nor a rocky hill for 60 kilometres around Thanjavur.

How did these heavy rock come here..??

▶️It is said that 3000 elephants were used to bring these stones from far away

▶️The Architecture is based on Interlock method, also known as puzzle techniques.

▶️No cement, stucco, plaster or adhesives were used between the stones. One stone is locked over another stone, to lock it.

▶️London’s Big Ben and the Leaning Tower Of Pisa are tilting with time. But This Temple stands straight even after  1000 years.

▶️The reason is the base of the Temple which is very wide.

▶️The another speciality of the Temple is it was built without digging the earth which means it was built on the plain land

▶️The stone placed at the top of the Temple tower is known as “KUMBAM ”.

▶️Kumbam weighs about 81 tons and is craved out of single rock

▶️There were no cranes or power machinery to lift the stones to such a height . Wondering how they place this on top.

▶️To the Temple tower, they made a ramp of around 6 kilometres long

Nandi

▶️Other fascinating thing about this place is the Nandi

▶️It is craved out of single stone

          ▶️It is 13 feet height
